Bespoke watch repair & Restoration in Rotherham

Benjamin Redzia Watch Repairs Ltd offers professional, quality wrist & pocket watch repair & restoration services.

Expert watch repairs

The watch repair and restoration service provided can vary from simple things such as fitting a new battery and bracelet adjustments, to full cleans and services and complete restorations. The repair is carried out and tailored to the customers own requests; if a watch has a chipped glass bringing back fond memories of a past event, then the glass can be left unchanged while the rest of the watch is restored, providing a very personal, bespoke repair service. No work is carried out until the go-ahead has been received from the customer. A 12-month guarantee is provided for all clean & service jobs.

Inspections & Estimates

All watches are assessed by inspection prior to any repair work being undertaken.

An inspection involves opening the watch, examining the movement, carrying out functional checks, and identifying faults or likely causes of failure based on professional diagnosis and experience. A written report is then provided outlining the findings and recommended course of action.
There is a £35 inspection fee, payable when the watch is dropped off or received.
If you decide to proceed with the recommended repair, this fee is deducted from the final cost of the work.
Please note that an inspection does not involve full disassembly of the movement unless this has been agreed and quoted for separately. Some modern or sealed movements are not serviceable at component level and may require complete replacement once inspected.

Clean & service

A clean and service involves the complete disassembly of the watch movement, where possible, and is carried out only after inspection and customer approval.

The movement is fully stripped down to its component parts and cleaned using a professional watch cleaning machine. All components are carefully examined for wear or damage before reassembly. The movement is then reassembled and lubricated using the correct oils and greases for each application.

The watch case and bracelet (if fitted) are ultrasonically cleaned. Case polishing is carried out only where appropriate and with the customer’s agreement, particularly on vintage or precious metal cases.
Once assembled, the movement is regulated on a timing machine in multiple positions. The movement is then refitted to the case and any worn or damaged seals are replaced where available.
Where applicable, water-resistant watches are pressure tested. Finally, the completed watch is test-run for several days to confirm correct operation and timekeeping before being returned to the customer.

Please note that some modern sealed movements or certain vintage watches may not be serviceable at component level. In such cases, this will be identified during inspection and discussed before any work is carried out.
